Postnatal Care

"The postnatal package care was invaluable! Helen was there soon after we got home form hospital late in the evening as well as the next morning, and everyday, sometimes twice a day if needed, for the next 10 days. We felt so well supported.  She gives very practical advice and was such a great help, giving daily encouragement with breastfeeding and baby care, as well as caring for me post delivery."

  • Generously timed Midwifery postnatal health check for both mother and baby

  • Advice and support regarding new parenting skills

  • Valuable opportunity to reflect and discuss birth experience

  • Breastfeeding and infant feeding support and advice

  • Help understanding your baby's needs

  • Teaching baby skills, for example bathing, general baby care

  • If full package, Newborn Blood Spot Screening test and weighing of baby

Referral would be made directly to your NHS care provider if there were any concerns regarding your Postnatal wellbeing.

Midwife Care offers two options for postnatal care:

Complete postnatal package; pre arranged and planned towards the end of your pregnancy.  Midwife care offers women the opportunity to be discharged from the hospital you delivered in as soon as possible after delivery, with the reassurance of good continuity of postnatal midwifery care at home.  This service would replace your NHS community midwifery care.  Bespoke postnatal packages meeting the needs of you and your baby, and getting you off to the best possible start postnatally!

Option two:

Postnatal appointments can be arranged to supplement your NHS community midwifery care, as and when you would like them.

"Postnatally, the highlight was when we returned from the hospital, Helen was there waiting to help settle us into our home.  The postnatal package was a real comfort to us.  She offered advice on everything relevant - breastfeeding, sleeping support, post birth support for me physically as well as to our newborn"                                                               S.B

"The postnatal advice and support that Midwife Care gave was invaluable.  The explanations on my emergency caesarian and its necessity were very reassuring.  It helped greatly to come to terms with the events and to process the traumatic event.  Helen demonstrated  more personal engagement , in-depth knowledge and  helpful advice than the NHS midwife.  With the tips provided to settle our baby, we had tools and more confidence to be able to manage our baby at night, and consequently we had much better sleep at night!
We found the length of appointments to be just right.
We specifically would recommend Helen because of her expertise, compassion and empathy that she showed to us as our Independent Midwife"  S & B T
