All midwives that practice in the UK must be registered with the NMC and are bound by the “Midwives Rules & Standards” and “The Code”. It is a regulatory and governing body which ensures that midwives are properly qualified and competent to work within the UK, whether that be within the NHS or Independently. The NMC exists to safeguard the health and wellbeing of the public.
