Would be student midwives
Would be student midwives! Please email to register your interest to attend the next workshop....dates planned according to demand
I am often inundated with requests for work experience as well as the opportunity to shadow me in my work as an Independent Midwife. The sheer number of requests are simply not possible to accomodate for the size of my Midwifery practice.
I decided therefore to start offering workshops, for such requests.
So if you are thinking about midwifery as a career.........
whether still at school or
perhaps as a mature student,
undertaking an access to nursing/midwifery course
considering a career change
This may just be the course for you!
The courses take place in my own home in SE9, from 10am - 1 pm.
Workshops will be aimed at giving an understanding into what a career in midwifery involves, and all attendees will be issued with a certificate.
The many different role's of a midwife's work will be discussed - antenatal, intrapartum (delivery) and postnatal, as well as a practical and realistic presentation of all that this career choice involves!
I have been a midwife for 20 years now and absolutely love my job. I will present the many positive's as well as the
reality of working unsocial hours and night work etc!
3 hour workshop
"Thank you Helen for the workshop! I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it a great insight into midwifery. You clearly are a midwife with a truly significant amount of practice within midwifery, both NHS and Independently, and it was kind of you to impart some of that knowledge to us as would be student midwives.
From the perspective of someone looking into a midwifery career, I found the workshop was spot on and gave me a fundamental understanding of what I hope to study for, and why I would like to be a midwife"
"Thank you Helen for your informative workshop. It was very inspiring and I particularly enjoyed the practical demonstration at the end - it made me realize how very enthusiastic I am to start a midwifery course.
I really appreciated your honesty on the home/work balance, especially as a mother myself of 2 children."
"Just a short note to say thank you for a fab workshop yesterday. I really enjoyed it and found it very useful.
It was great to meet like minded people, hoping to train in the future and talk about real life situations, pros and cons and learn a bit more about what will be involved moving forward.
I will keep you posted with my progress, your workshop has encouraged me to continue with my application and become a Midwife."
"The workshop was really great and it was nice to meet others wanting to train as a midwife too. The content was excellent and the price for the workshop was perfect too - super value for money! I would thoroughly recommend it for anyone considering midwifery as a career"
"Thank so much Helen for the workshop. It was so helpful and I know fro sure now that I would like to train to be a midwife. I loved the clinical demonstration of how to feel a pregnant tummy - great surprise addition to the course!"
"Thanks so much for an enlightening workshop. Everything said and shown was really interesting and informative. It has really helped me to reassure the reasons why I want to be a midwife. I left your home feeling excited about the prospect of starting the hard but fascinating journey of becoming a midwife."
